The Karnak temple was probably one of the best sites we visited in Egypt. It's a fascinating complex of sanctuaries, pylons and obelisks all dedicated to the Theban gods. Everything here is gigantic but stylish. Constructed, reconstructed, dismantled, restored, enlarged and decorated over 1500 years.

During the Theban period Karnak was the most significant place of worship in Egypt and was called "The Most Perfect of Places" (Ipet-Isut)
