towed by a truck

Heading for Moyale we were reminded that nothing lasts forever and certainly not an alternator. In the middle of nowhere a smell of burning stopped us and suddenly the Landy would not go any further - ouch ! The bearing in the alternator had broken. There was of course not a soul in sight and at least 50 km to the next city. After a while, and when we were seriously thinking of settling there and run a farm, somebody did show up - a little truck, but big enough to tow the Landy. God bless Isuzu.

bush mechanics

We reached Moyale towed by the divine truck and stopped at a sort of workshop where three talented mechanics with nothing more than a screwdriver and a bended hammer managed to remove the broken bearing and replaced it with a new one. The fact that they actually found a new bearing that fitted was just amazing, and a few hours later we could leave the workshop, driving.
