alternator panic

Exactly on time... it's about 1pm sunday afternoon - lots of people came to see us off from Kongens Nytorv - main square in the heart of Copenhagen. What a spectacle - one year of preparation, now we're there - now we're off, wow... who would have thought that? There were a mixture of excitement, solemnity, sane envy and good wishes in the air.
We drove off in good spirit "towards the sun", you know the cliché used in mostly bad movies - Well this is not even close to a motion picture, but plain reality - our reality...
Sounds very philosophical don't you think? Now philosophize this, about 1 km after departure the alternator started going crazy - we pulled over immediatly and then the landy stopped dead, no sign of life or whatsoever. Mario, white as a sheet screams: this is not happening! However the cause were found promptly - the battery switch had gone loose, finally to be disconnected. Here we go again!

night drive will be avoided, not in the very first day

Our next mean of transportation was the ferry to the mainland of Denmark - a 2½ hours "ride", yes this little kingdom still has ferries in spite of several state of the art bridges connecting the country. Being at the port in good time, a cup of coffee could change the world. After 12 months of preparation, we've got coffee, we've got sugar, we've got teaspoons, we've got a boiler, but then reality hits again, we don't have water! We do have however, a 60 liters watertank... empty.

We eventually reached Århus at 10pm in our first "night drive" and we drove towards our friend Ingerlise's home, nice to sleep in a bed on our first "camping" night.
