Rachel with her daughter and her sister

Malawi is a little country wedged in between Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique and has the third largest lake in Africa, Lake Malawi. The lake covers a fifth of the country's total area but unluckily the water contains Bilharzia ("Schistosomiasis", since you asked) which makes it not very attractive for swimming.

beach cleaning

We stayed at a place called Kande Beach, yes beach! Many shores of the lake makes natural beaches, which sometimes can make one believe that it is the ocean rolling up the waves. In a rural village next to the campsite we met Rachel, a young Malawian girl who proudly told us about her life and introduced us to her family.
