The most distinctive area in Etosha National Park is a huge pan covering
about 9360 sq km and is called "Place of Emptiness". This name fully illustrates
the impression one gets while looking over the vast dried lake which solely
will be a lake again with an exceptionally quantity of rain. "The lake"
is surrounded by low bushes, high grass and several natural and artificial
water holes where it is possible to drive very close and watch the animals
drink... or see a jackal eating a wildebeest.
